Our team provides integrated medical services and solutions to seafarers in both Pacific and Atlantic side of the Isthmus of Panama.
After extensive experience in providing emergency services at Hospital Santa Fe as Chief emergency physician for more than 10 years, in 1993 Dr. Jorge Townshend started the Transisthmian Health Services project. The company initiated operations in that year. With a strategic alliance with Hospital Santa Fe, that is close by to the Pacific side of the Canal entrance and Panama Ports and Rodman port. Services has been provided to Seafarers in a 24/7 every day since then.
We have medical personnel on-call 24/7 that provides medical services no matter the complexity of service required, since we have an affiliate staff of more than 20 specialist, ready to attend, if their services are required.
Our installations provides an adequate setting for the examination of patients and Hospital Santa Fe provides emergency installations, laboratory and imaging support, to include Ct scans and MRI´s. In hospital services are provided, to include surgery and intensive care, if required. A complete pharmacy that works round the clock completes an excellent, and on time service for Seafarers.
Starting in January 2005 medical services were inaugurated at the Atlantic side. This service is rendered at Centro Medico del Caribe, located across the street from Colon 2000 port terminal and 10 block away from the Cristobal port. Medical personnel provides services 24/7 if required. Centro Medico del Caribe provides laboratory, imaging and pharmacy support to the attention of the seafarers. If the complexity of the case requires so, the patient is transferred to Hospital Santa Fe at Panama City.
Since 2019 services were extended to include an ambulance evacuation services at the Pacific and Atlantic side of the isthmus. Evacuations are also done when ships are through the Panama Canal locks. This ambulance service includes ACLS ambulances with certified paramedic personnel. This service is provided on-call in a 24/7 mode. The service was started with the 2019-2020 cruise ship season.
